Review Board

Monitoring and Proven Expertise

The Review Board of Young TLE controls the admission process of applicants for membership. In doing so, the Review Board checks whether the admission criteria of the applicants are fulfilled and can decide against the admission of an applicant to membership in individual cases. The Review Board consists of four members with representatives from the areas of law, tax & economics.

Professor Dr. Carmen Bachmann

Institute for Corporate Accounting, Finance and Taxation

Carmen Bachmann, tax consultant, holds the Chair of Business Taxation at the University of Leipzig since 2013. Previously, she was a private lecturer at the University of Augsburg and completed several stays abroad, including at Waseda University (Japan). Her interdisciplinary research focuses on model-theoretical analyses at the interface of corporate finance, tax valuation issues, and information technology. She is a member of the advisory board of the Leipzig University Foundation and a founding initiator of Chance for Science.

Professor Dr. Matthias Jahn

Institute for Criminology and Philosophy of Law, Goethe University Frankfurt am Main

Matthias Jahn holds the Chair of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure Law, Economic Criminal Law and Legal Theory at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main since April 2013 and is head of the Research Center for Law and Practice of Criminal Defense. His research focuses on the core subjects of criminal law and criminal procedure law, as well as on economic criminal law understood in its entire breadth, including its procedural aspects. His approach to these areas has always been traditionally dogmatic, on the one hand, and criminological and constitutional, on the other. He has been a member of the editorial board of the professional journal Strafverteidiger since 2008 and is also co-editor of the journal Sport und Recht. In addition, Matthias Jahn is a judge in his second main office in the 1st Criminal Senate of the Higher Regional Court of Frankfurt am Main.

Tax consultant Professor Dr. Wolfgang Kessler

Business Administration and Taxation, Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg/i.Breisgau

Wolfgang Kessler holds the Chair of Business Taxation and is Chairman of the Board of the Center for Business and Law at the Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg/i.Breisgau. The focus of his academic work is on the areas of legal forms, group tax law and international tax law. Wolfgang Kessler is a lecturer at the Federal Academy of Finance and a member of the Professional Institute of Tax Consultants. In addition, he is the initiator and founding partner of the Tax-Academy and, as a partner of Ernst & Young from 2001 to 2011, he was in charge of internal tax training and continuing education for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, among other things.

Professor Dr. Ulrich Torggler, LL.M.

Institute for Corporate and Commercial Law,   University of Vienna

Ulrich Torggler holds the Chair of Corporate Law, with a special focus on the intertwining with general civil law, as well as the Chair of the Institute for Corporate and Business Law at the University of Vienna since 2011. His research focuses on corporate law, company law and capital markets law. Ulrich Torggleris the recipient of the Walther Kastner Prize (1996, 2009) and the Cardinal Innitzer Promotion Prize (2009), among others. He is, inter alia, a member of the board of the Gesellschaftsrechtlichen Vereinigung Österreichs – GVÖ.
